biochãos is a small quinta (portuguese for small family farm) in central portugal. we started our project in the summer of 2013. this is our first attempt at either homesteading or agriculture of any sort.

at the moment we manage to grow a nice chunk of the food we eat, and we hope to be close to self sufficiency at some point. we try to implement the design principles of permaculture and use no-till methods of bio-dynamic agriculture. these are all long words for beginners, but they sound nice :)
the bottom line is we’re struggling, but enjoying every minute of it.
